Zoras are a race of aquatic humanoids inhabiting the waters of body of waters in Hyrule, the sea in Termina and the Labrynna bodies of water.

Background[]

Biology[]

Zora are aquatic as seen in various timelines of Hyrule. It is known that zora can breathe underwater for a very long time and likely forever.

The dominant gender of the zora appears to the male, as they are often lead by a king or prince. Females on the other hand take a somewhat inactive role in zora society, other than the queen and a princess. Many zora women run businesses.

Due to their aquatic nature, they zora have extreme speed and agility when in a body of water. To add on to it, the fin of a zora can become sharp enough which makes it a useful weapon when unarmed. Zora, if capable of using magic can create an electric field around their body for protection.

Birth in zora society is important as well. The zora females lay eggs which must be kept in cold, clean water in order to develop healthily. Every egg from the same clutch, or family must be kept close in order for them to hatch. When the baby zora hatch, they come uot as small, tadpole-like critters.

Government[]

The government of the zora appears to monarchical, this is shown by King Zora XVI, the major ruler of the zora during the Hero of Time time period. The Zora Royal Family is tasked with maintaining order among its people. Patron deity, Lord Jabu-Jabu is in charge of keeping the waters pure and clean, he is also watched over by the royal family. During Link's trip to Termina, the exact government of the zora there is unknown and is left a mystery.

Culture[]

Though the culture of the zora is barely known, they worship a large fish named Lord Jabu-Jabu. He is tasked with keeping the water clean and pure (as seen above).

Music that exists within zora culture is jazz music. However, the only known jazz band of the zora are the Indigo-Go's.

Evolution[]

See the Rito page for more information

The zora, during the time of Hyrule's Great Flood had to evolve in order to survive in the new climate. To maintain the zora culture, the rito are seen with the zora symbol.
